Backend Developer

SciNote LLC is looking for an Backend Developer to join an international team of scientists, software developers, and creative business thinkers. This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
You will enter the world of science and software solutions that support the greatest labs in the world today by supporting researchers in their software adaptation.

Backend Developer: Key tasks and responsibilities
- Planning and Development of business logic
- Writing reusable code and tests
- Writing efficient DB queries and doing query optimization
- Use caching techniques to improve the performance
- Designing APIs to support integrations
- Code reviews
- Participating in the design of efficient and extendable data models
- Translation the product specifications into tickets
- Integration of data from different web services
- Helping with organization and automation of the development process
- Troubleshooting and debugging
Backend Developer: Knowledge & skills needed
Requirements:
- At least 2 years of experience with a MVC web framework, Ruby on Rails is a plus
- At least 2 years of experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL is a plus)
- Understanding and experience with writing and consuming RESTful APIs
- GIT knowledge
- Fluent English
- Experience with High availability web applications
Nice-to-haves:
- Familiarity with AWS, especially CloudFormation, S3, RDS, ECS
- Experience with docker
- Familiarity with at least one of the following: Vue.js, React, AngularJS
- Familiarity with agile development
- Familiarity with JIRA
- Experience with Unix based operating systems
