How can SciNote help you when preparing to file for a patent

It allows you to keep all your data in one place in a structured way. Having your IP i.e. your data scattered around in different forms and places is not what you want. SciNote keeps it all together and organized for you, enabling you to separate sensitive information.

It automatically links different types of information, keeping records of your work (e.g. linking results with protocols and users, who contributed to the electronic record) and offers additional data annotations.

How to control of the access to the information in patent-related work in SciNote

You can document your work in a structured way and control who gets to see the data that is so important to keep in a secure location.

Take advantage of SciNote’s project-based organization to keep sensitive data separated and under controlled access. Having your IP i.e. your data scattered around in different forms and places is not ideal.

Take advantage of user roles and grant individual permissions to data access. In SciNote, people don’t have access to a particular piece of data unless you grant them permission.

Have full control over who you invite to collaborate in the first place. Every SciNote user needs to be granted access. You receive a unique username and password which you have to use for identification every time you try to access your data, sign or witness it.

Control who gets the access to your projects and data within projects. Data security can be set up on multiple levels. Aside from logging in, an administrator-level user needs to grant you an appropriate level of access to selected parts of the ELN so you can ensure that only co-inventors and trusted people can access the content.

Data protection measures

At SciNote, we prioritize the protection of your data. Various measures are in place to keep your data safe.

Making sure no one steals your data. All encryption and decryption are managed client-side. This means that only you have access to decrypted information, even if somebody else reads the encrypted data, they will only receive gibberish.

Managing the data access. You can fine-tune who can see what even on the internal level. SciNote has a folder-based secure structure that ensures protection against internal theft.

Making sure your data remains intact. If you ever worry your computers, where files are stored, might suddenly break down, a flood or some other natural disaster might ruin some or all of your work, cloud hosting ensures data back-ups on a separate physical location to minimize the risk of potential data loss in such cases.

You have sole ownership of your research data. SciNote will not assume any ownership over data that is entered in SciNote.
